Principal's News

Nigel Rodrigues

Dear Families,

As we draw closer to the end of the school year it is easy to get caught up in all the business and feel the stress of all we need to get done and deal with in preparation for our school closing for 2022 and the coming of Christmas. It is important for us to keep in mind all the amazing things we have achieved together this year and the happy times we have had. I am hearing from many of our Year 6 students, whose time at Trinty is coming to an end, how much this school has meant to them and how sad they will be to be finally leaving. For them, of course, an exciting new beginning awaits as they commence their secondary school journey, making new friends and meeting new challenges. These conversations do remind me of how important each day is and how we must always make the most of each moment keeping in mind what matters most, and that is, the relationships we build with each other and the times we share whilst part of the Trinity School Community.

Staff Updates

This year I have a few important announcements regarding staffing for next year.  Christine, one of our valuable Learning Support Officers, will be leaving us to begin her own teaching career at Carnegie Primary School next year. This year Christine has worked with Year 1/2 UR and has been a fantastic support to Ms Rivas and the class. Mrs Boffa has decided that from next year she would like to work three days instead of her five. She will certainly be missed on those days by all of us here but thankfully we will still see her each Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We hope to find a suitable replacement for her soon. Finally, after 14 Years Mrs Smith has made the very big decision to finish up at Trinity at the end of this year.  During her time at Trinity Mrs Smith has held many different positions including Learning Diversity Leader. Lindy has made had a huge impact on the school with all she has contributed over the years through her dedication to the community. As most of you would know she also acted as Principal for most of 2020 to ensure the continued smooth running of the school which included our major school review which highlighted many of the great things happening at Trinity.  Mrs Smith is yet to decide her next big adventure but we all wish her the very best in whatever that might be.

Trinity Fete 2023 - Save the Date!

Our Trinity Fete Committee has been meeting regularly these past few weeks and the excitement is already building. We are looking forward to a very special whole school event and know that as we all work together all those important jobs which will need to be done will get done to ensure a successful Fete next year. With almost all jobs full there remains a few that need volunteers. Please have a look at the attached form and add your name if you are able to help. Remember no-one will be working alone and we will all be supporting each other throughout.

Student Reports

I hope by now all parents have had the time to read their child's school report and this afternoon and evening have the opportunity to listen to their child share some of their learning over the semester. Whilst our student reports do convey some of the challenges and areas for improvement our children can make, it is their achievements we encourage you to celebrate and focus on.

Shared Stories

At last Friday's school assembly all our children who had work published in the Shared Stories Anthology were presented with a certificate and a copy of the published book. A special congratulations to Amelia in Year 6 who was awarded our outstandig writer for this year. Congratulations to all students who entered work as the standard was extremely high. Thank you also to Ms Marinelli for the effort she put into coordinating this work and for the wonderful assembly which allowed many of the students to share their writing. I am sure all those parents who attended would have been moved by the thoughtful and incredible standard of the work from students across all year levels. I have included again, the Shared Stories Literacy page, in this edition of the newsletter so that anyone who has not yet had a chance to read these pieces of writing can do so.

Prayer: A prayer of Thanks

Thank you, Lord, for the blessings you have bestowed on my life
You have provided me with more than I could ever have imagined.
You have surrounded me with people who always look out for me.
You have given me family and friends who bless me every day with kind words and actions.
Amen

End of Year School Picnic-Wednesday 14 Dec

A reminder to come and join us if you are free. (See directions HERE)

On the day, children will need to wear their school sports uniform, hat and runners. Children will be required to bring their own lunch and snack as well as their water bottles.

Melbourne University Partnership

Trinity primary School has an ongoing partnership with Melbourne University and this year, once again, offered opportunities for a number of their Master of Teaching students to be mentored by our teachers for their teacher training placements. This process is a vital step in preparing these students once they graduate from their courses. Many thanks to Ms Marinelli our Student Teacher coordinator and to Ms O'Connor, Ms Rivas, Ms Caitlin and Mrs Recce who all mentored students this year.
