Class Celebrations

Celebrating the growth in our wonderful children on each learning level...

Prep

We would like to congratulate our youngest students on completing their first few weeks of school! The Preps have been busy participating in our ‘Learning to Learn’ phase where they learn all about our Big 10 Essential Habits and practise essential school routines such as lining up, sitting on the carpet and using the stairs safely. It has been wonderful to see the students engage with this learning with such excitement and eagerness. We look forward to a fantastic year ahead!

Year 1

We have had a wonderful first two weeks getting to know our amazing Grade 1 students. We have been busy during our Learning to Learn phase, developing a better understanding of the importance of following our school’s Big 10 Essential Habits.

Our SUPERSTAR Grade 1 students have been practising following the Big 10! They have been using their time effectively, being helpful, kind and caring towards others, smiling and using their manners. We are so proud of their attitudes and efforts during the first two weeks back at school!

Year 2

Our Grade 2's have enjoyed revisiting their Big 10 knowledge during the past 2 weeks of our Learning to Learning phase. A highlight of this week was when Mr Messy visited our classrooms and made it very messy! They were shocked when they came up to their classrooms to see that books were all over the floor in the library, pencil caddies were tipped over, paper was knocked out of the recycling bin and chairs were not pushed in. Even Bamboo (the mascot of 2C) was found in the recycling bin!

To learn about Big 10 Number 6: Keep personal and work spaces tidy and organised, the Grade 2's cleaned up their classrooms and made sure that everything was in its place. They learnt the importance being a strong community member to work as a team to keep the classroom clean. This will ensure that Mr Messy never returns!

Year 3

During the past few weeks of 'Learning to Learn' our fantastic Year 3 students have been busy building positive relationships with their new teacher and classmates. We have developed our understanding of the Big 10 Essential Habits, learnt how to keep ourselves and others safe and practised important routines to help us be organised and focused on learning. We have been blown away by how excited the Year 3 students have been to start their homework and get stuck into the programs we use at SMPS.

The smiles and beautiful manners used by our students have brightened up Level 3 everyday. We have no doubt it will be an exciting year in Year 3!

Year 4

It has been so wonderful to welcome such an enthusiastic group of Year 4's through the doors of our school! We have started the year off by developing our classroom routines, getting to know each other and building a sense of community within our classes. The students have enjoyed revisiting the Big 10 and learning how each essential habit helps us every day, as well as reflecting on how we can demonstrate our school values of Character, Community and Learning. A highlight for the students has been getting their laptops and learning how to use them as well as how to be safe online.

We are all looking forward to a fantastic 2023 in Year 4!

Year 5

The Grade 5 students have made an excellent start to the year. The children have such wonderful manners. During the 'Learning to Learn' phase, students have been revising the Big 10 Essential Habits, classroom routines, getting to know their new classmates and teachers and much more! They have enjoyed participating in team building games. It has been wonderful making connections with the students in our class. We are very excited for the year to come.

Year 6

Two proud teachers welcomed the Grade 6’s back to the SMPS community and the children have gone above and beyond to show us they are ready to take on the role of leaders of our school. They have started the year strongly by reflecting the school vision of “Inspiring hearts and minds to thrive”. Together we have dissected the exact meaning of the vision and have made connections with the deeper meaning of ‘The Big 10’ and showing their dedication to Big 10 Number 6- Keep personal and workspaces tidy and organised.

They have been working together to tidy up our learning spaces so that we have a clean and calm learning environment. What fantastic community members! During the past two weeks the children have taken part in the ‘Learning to Learn’ phase of the school year.  They have prepared themselves before they embark on the official learning programs. They have also worked closely as a team to create class rules and discover new ways to embrace the school year with positivity and maturity.

Grade 6 have enjoyed getting to know each other again and welcoming new students to the community. As a team, we have worked on goals that we would love to achieve by the end of the year.

Gratitude

As teachers, we are so proud that your children have started the school year in such a positive, kind, and mature manner. It feels fantastic to watch Grade 6 enter school each day, happy and settled. This is a credit to your hard work and supporting us with the routines and positive reinforcement during this transition period. We thank you all for your support and we look forward to seeing your children grow academically and socially.
