Sport at Emmaus

Daryl Porter, HPE/Sports Coordinator F - 12

Welcome to all returning and new Emmaus Christian College families to a new and exciting year ahead in the field of active, social, and competitive physical pursuits. On behalf of the H&PE / Sports Department, we hope that the festive season was an enjoyable and active period for you and your families.

Weekly Sports

For our currently enrolled players and officials, our summer Netball, Basketball and Tennis programs will all be recommencing as the term begins. It is vital that you check your relevant team’s information page through the ‘StackTeam App’ to see the most up to date schedule for the second half of the summer season.

Trainings will continue on the same night and locations as Term 4 last year. If circumstances have changed for your child to attend trainings or matches, ensure you communicate this to your respective team coach, so that alternate arrangements can be made to ensure the team can continue without any issues.

For any students and families who are interested in taking part in our growing Club or representative sports programs, please direct your inquiries to our H&PE / Sports Department via email initially sport@emmauscc.sa.edu.au. This will allow us to assist with your enquiry.

Term 1 Sporting Events

As many are aware, Term 1 is a busy term with various sporting carnivals, competitions, and year level camps, as well as the commencement of a new school year, which has its own challenges. Involvement in sport may be an avenue to help navigate these challenges. We encourage everyone to check the College Calendarto see all our sporting events displayed for the term ahead, to allow your families to plan their work schedules or family commitments around these dates. If events are to be changed due to extreme weather or other circumstances, this calendar is where any new dates will be displayed.

Sporting Achievements

As part of our fortnightly College newsletter, we like to acknowledge students’ sporting achievements within the wider community. Achievements can include being selected to trial as part of a pathways program or higher, a personal award recognition for their club or association, invitation to a significant sporting opportunity, any personal best results, or other.

If you would like to have this achievement shared with the wider Emmaus Community email sport@emmauscc.sa.edu with a brief description and we will endeavour to include this in our next fortnightly newsletter article.

Last year we shared in our newsletter that Panashe Madanha (Old Scholar of 2022) had signed with Adelaide United Soccer Club, during the summer break and made his A League debut. At the time of this article, Panashe had made four appearances for the Reds, coming off the bench and making impressive contributions to the team. In each of his appearances he was publicly recognised by the captain Craig Goodwin on the radio.

We look forward to meeting and seeing you or your child involved in our Club and representative sports’ programs this year and beyond.
