Principal's Address
Kindergarten’s First Day
Kindy have enjoyed their first 8 days of school with Ms Brougham thanks to a highly successful transition program. All students have settled in quickly and are learning about being a student at ‘big school’. They will be coming home tired and emotional each day for the first few weeks, possibly longer, as they adjust to the demands of school five days a week. This is completely normal and something that is catered for as best as possible in the classroom.
It has been beautiful to see the strong bonds the children are forming with their Year 6 buddies. I hope to get to read them a story soon.
Year 7’s first day
Year 7 have also settled in well to school, this time to secondary schooling. Year 7 have their very own homeroom that they do the majority of their learning in, except for practical lessons. Here they are supported with a consistent seating plan, learning resources and displays aimed at motivating and organising. Once they have settled into secondary schooling, they will gradually begin to participate in their learning in the specialised classroom spaces. Ms Bromfield, and the rest of the Year 7 teachers have been very impressed with their maturity and application to their learning. Well done Year 7.
Boorowa Central School continues to grow
The numbers are in! In 2023, we have 248 officially enrolled students attending our school K-12. This continues our positive enrolment trend from 2020. In 2020, we had 178 enrolments, 2021 we had 208 enrolments, 2022 we had 223 enrolments and now 248. In the past 12 years, our highest enrolment was in 2013 with 269 students. With our current trend, I hope to surpass this figure within the next 2 years.
This is a great sign that parents, and the community, feel that Boorowa Central School is a great place to be educated. Thank you for your confidence in our school. We will continue to strive for excellence.
New Staff to Boorowa Central School

They will all be at the Welcome Barbecue on Wednesday 22 February 2023. Come up to the school, enjoy a sausage sandwich and meet with our new and existing staff.

Meet the new Student Wellbeing Team
The Student Wellbeing Team was established this year to ensure that the best possible approach to the support of student wellbeing is being implemented at Boorowa Central School. Each secondary year group now has a year advisor, who make up the majority of the team, and they are joined by a primary teacher representative, the Student Support Officer, and the School Counsellor.
- Primary Representative - Emily Friend
- Year 7 Advisor - Ms Jessica Bromfield
- Year 8 Advisor - Mrs Catherine Golden
- Year 9 Advisor - Ms Liz Moorby
- Year 10 Advisor - Mrs Rachael Taylor
- Year 11 Advisor - Ms Kelly Armour
- Year 12 Advisor - Ms Claire Johnson
- Student Support Officer - Mrs Taryn Riles
If you are a parent of a secondary child, the Year Advisor is the first staff member to contact if you have any wellbeing concerns/issues for your child. Wellbeing issues will be addressed by the Year Advisor and referred onto the Student Support Officer or School Counsellor if/when further intervention is required.
Infants and Primary parents are to continue contacting their child’s classroom teacher directly with wellbeing concerns/issues.
An initiative that the team is working toward is the establishment of a Wellbeing focussed day once every term. On this day, students in K-12 will participate in age-appropriate activities designed to address specific wellbeing areas and to educate the children how best to manage these situations.
Our first Student Wellbeing Day is coming up later in the term. Watch this space for more information.
Welcome Barbecue and book give away
Boorowa Central School is hosting its annual Welcome Barbecue on Wednesday 22 February from 5:30 -7:30 pm. Come and join the staff for a sausage sandwich and zooper dooper whilst the children enjoy a game of cricket or basketball.
Our school received $10,000 worth of books last year, thanks to a successful application from Mrs Eustace. We simply do not have space for these new books to hit the shelves. Therefore, families will have the opportunity, for a gold coin donation, to choose from the many library books the school has decided to re-home. Come along and have a peak at the fiction and non-fiction books for all ages.
Year 7/8 Information Night
Parents of our current Year 7 and 8 students are invited to an information session on Monday 20 February 2023 at 6 pm in our Library.
The evening is designed to provide helpful information regarding assessment tasks, homework, learning in class and other aspects of secondary schooling as well as what to expect socially, emotionally, and hormonally at home. Parents will also have the opportunity to meet key staff members from our school.
Please join us for an informative evening.
