Education in Faith

Education in Faith encompasses the following areas: Religious Education, Prayer, Liturgy and Sacraments.

This week as a Catholic school community, we celebrate the 3rd week of Advent. The third candle represents ‘Joy'. The pink Advent candle represents the joy of anticipation for Christmas’. This candle is lit on Gaudete or Rejoice Sunday. The rose colour of this third candle reminds us that the joyous feast of Christmas is near.

The third week of Advent focuses on Matthew's gospel 11:2-11.

Are you the one who is to come, or must we wait for someone else?

John in his prison had heard what Christ was doing and he sent his disciples to ask him, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or have we got to wait for someone else?’ Jesus answered, ‘Go back and tell John what you hear and see; the blind see again, and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hears, and the dead are raised to life and the Good News is proclaimed to the poor; and happy is the man who does not lose faith in me.’

As the messengers were leaving, Jesus began to talk to the people about John: ‘What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swaying in the breeze? No? Then what did you go out to see? A man wearing fine clothes? Oh no, those who wear fine clothes are to be found in palaces. Then what did you go out for? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet: he is the one of whom scripture says: Look, I am going to send my messenger before you; he will prepare your way before you. I tell you solemnly, of all the children born of women, a greater than John the Baptist has never been seen; yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he is.’

As a learning community, our learners will be given the opportunity to reflect and unpack the scripture story.  We invite you to spend time with your family discussing Matthew's gospel and reflecting on how we can live out Matthew’s gospel in our daily lives.

End of Year Mass

This Friday the 16th of December at 9.15 am, as a Catholic school community, we will be celebrating mass. This is a time to reflect and give thanks and celebrate all the wonderful happenings of 2022. We take this opportunity to farewell our Year 6 children and staff who will be leaving St Fidelis at the end of the year.   We invite all parents and carers to take this opportunity and join us as we celebrate this special celebration.

End of Year Assembly

On Monday 20th of December at 2.45 pm, our Year 6 leaders will be given the opportunity to lead us in prayer.   All parents and carers are invited to attend this celebration.

Wishing you all a very safe and happy Christmas,
