Year 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 Physical Education
In Physical Education lessons this term, the Year 2 and Year 3 students have been learning about and practising their soccer skills in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup! They have been busy improving their dribbling skills and working on their passing and ball control, just in case the Socceroos and Matildas are looking for some talented, future superstars! The students have been fantastic in learning to play and work together as a team.
The Year 4 and Year 5 classes spent the first half of Term 4 completing an AFL program. The students learnt and developed basic football skills including handpassing, kicking and marking. They participated in drills and activities designed to improve their coordination, athleticism and ball handling skills. We finished the program by playing a modified Auskick game involving the whole class and all of the students thoroughly enjoyed putting their skills to the test!
During Term 4, the Year 8 classes have completed a 5-week basketball program consisting of developing attacking and defensive drills, as well as improving ball handling and shooting skills. Each lesson involved a mini-game to enable students to practise the skills they were learning. Small-sided games also allowed all students to be more involved and aimed to increase participation to develop healthy, life-long physical activity habits.

Year 6 Physical Education
In Semester Two, the Year 6s have focussed on the skills of Athletics and Australian Rules Football. During Term 3, the Year 6s participated in a variety of Track and Field events throughout their sport lessons in preparation for their Inter-House Athletics Carnival. Some class favourites were the Turbo Javelin and 100m Sprints. In Term 4, the classes were introduced to the sport of Australian Rules football. For a lot of students, this was a new skill being able to kick the oval shaped ball, but all students participated with enthusiasm, especially when it came to game time.

Nominated Year 5 students made amazing House Captain speeches today. The impressive presentations for 2023 House Captain positions are currently being voted for by students from Year 3 to Year 5 and staff! House Captains will be announced next week. Good luck everyone!
On 23rd November Shark Tank came to SCC! Our 6 Year 6 finalists presented their products to an audience of students, staff and parents, and of course our all important panel of 'sharks'. Congratulations to the worthy winner, Ella, for her awesome ocean saving OmniPod- Ocean Cleaner!
Preparation for the Christmas Concert and Salvado’s Got Talent is also well underway! Lots of music, dancing and singing can be seen and heard around the College. We are heading into our last week of school with the students and there is a big buzz in the air with finishing curriculum programmes, starting Christmas activities and sharing the last few days in our Learning Spaces.
