Year 5/6

Welcome to our Year 5/6 page for 2023

We have settled back into school and into the swings of things beautifully! It is always exciting to see friends again and enjoy all the new things for the year. Ms Ferrier has been impressed by the senior members of the school who have already demonstrated leadership, friendliness and a positive attitude. This year is going to be a very exciting year. Our Year 6 students have a transition day at Baimbridge College on Tuesday 21st February. We are also booked to go to a Leadership conference on Tuesday 14th March in Mt Gambier, to Geelong for the BioCATS day at GMHBA Stadium Kardinia Park on Monday  27th March and the SGSSA Athletics at Pedrina Park on Tuesday 28th March!

This week we have focused on developing a positive attitude and building a growth mindset in our learning. 

Why is having a growth mindset so important for students?

A growth mindset can encourage a passion for learning and an ease in facing new challenges. Students with a growth mindset outperform those with a fixed mindset and are more likely to bounce back from failures. By changing the way you think, you can change the way you learn.

As part of our learning this week, each student chose a word or phrase as a goal to focus on that is reflective of their own personal learning goals.
