MARINE STUDIES
Students from our Year 11 Marine Studies class dissected a blue swimmer crab as part of their Life in the Sea module. We are studying the different types of creatures that live in our waters. Crabs are benthic creatures (bottom-dwellers).
Students examined the crab's external and internal anatomy, identified the different types of legs which are adapted for different purposes and also identified the heart, gills and other internal organs. They also learned to tell the difference between a female and male crab.
