Wellbeing News

Dear families,

Welcome back to Term 2! I hope you had a wonderful and restful Easter break.

This term, we will focus on connectedness and community at Our Lady Help of Christians through our SWELL activities. Launching on Monday of Week 2, students will work with many teachers across the school in mixed age groups on a range of activities that encourage teamwork, participation, cooperation and communication; whilst building friendship and empathy. Some examples of these activities are games with hula hoops and parachutes, mandala drawing, origami crafts and completing a scavenger hunt. Additional sessions will run on alternative Mondays throughout the term, so students can try each activity. We will invite families to final assembly held in Week 9 to celebrate our SWELL activities.

This Term, the children will also learn about help seeking in their Social Emotional Learning lessons, using resources from the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships learning materials. Students across the school will learn to identify the types of problems they may need help to solve, the people they can ask for help and will use age-appropriate role-play scenarios that allow them to practise asking for help.

I look forward to sharing photos of our work in Wellbeing throughout the term!
