Australian Surf Lifesaving Championships

"The Aussies is an annual event where members from Australia’s 314 Surf Clubs come together to compete in more than 480 beach and ocean events. This year’s event was held in the state of W.A at the famous Scarborough Beach.

I competed for Torquay Surf Lifesaving Club. As a team, we made the AquaCam Final, which includes all disciplines of the sport. As a team, we placed 10th in this. We also made the Board Relay Final and came 7th.

The individual events I participated in were the Sprint Swim, Board, and Iron Person events. In the Sprint Swim I managed to make semi-finals. For the Board and the Iron Person I narrowly missed on making it to the next round.

I also competed in the 2km Open Water Swim, in which I placed 14th. This was particularly challenging as there was lots of sea lice and jellyfish.

Overall, I had an amazing weekend meeting others and making new friends. I can’t wait to start training again to get ready for the Aussies in 2024 at Maroochydore QLD. "
