Parent Consultation Evening - St Bede's College Strategic Principles - Monday 15 May, 2023
Education is constantly changing. It is easy for a school to adopt a reactive or ad-hoc approach to national and international educational trends and to the needs of its community. But this approach can work only in the short-term. Strategic planning enables schools to proactively consider an issue, and form a long-term approach. It enables a school to influence, instead of just respond to, situations.
You are warmly invited to be part of a discussion, and provide ideas for, the strategic direction of St Bede’s College, on Monday 15 May at 5.30pm (details via link below).
If you could please confirm your intention to attend via the following link, it would be greatly appreciated - https://events.humanitix.com/vce-program-and-strategic-principles-community-consultation-evening
Please find a copy of the 2020 - 2024 Strategic Principles attached below for your consideration prior.
Light refreshments will be provided.
Parent Workshop - ‘Moving kids and teens from anxiety to resilience’ with Dr Jodi Richardson
Over the past few years, we have seen a sharp increase in the number of young people impacted by mental health issues, such as anxiety. It is crucial that we equip our students with positive health strategies so that they develop the resilience they need to meet life’s challenges. Parents play the most significant role in supporting their child when these challenges arise, which at times can prevent them from fully engaging at school and in life.
To help build this resilience, parents need to feel empowered. Dr Richardson is an educational leader and renowned specialist in childhood anxiety. During her presentation, she will provide practical skills and strategies to impart on your child, which will be valuable during their adolescent years and beyond.
Dr Richardson’s presentation is exclusively for parents/guardians, and will take place on Monday 22 May, from 7.00pm – 8.15pm.
Topics covered will cover the following:
- What is anxiety
- What happens in an anxious brain
- How to identify anxiety and teach your child to recognise it
- How to know when anxiety is getting out of hand
- How behaviour patterns develop and lead to avoidance
- What anxious and/or distressed children need most from their parents
- Practical strategies to dial anxiety symptoms down
- How to move anxious kids forward
- When and where to seek professional help
Entry is free, and bookings (to be made via the below link) are essential.
