Breaksea House News

End of Semester One

Semester One has gone faster than I’m sure many of us expected. Breaksea House is almost empty, with Year Ten students on Work Experience and other senior boarders at Country Week. It’s fantastic to see so many girls make it into Country Week teams this year.

The girls made it through their exams and have already received their results. Some excelled as per their expectations, while a few are reflecting upon what they did this time round and what they need to change in their study, notes and exam preparation.

Throughout the first semester, I have been so proud of how supportive the girls are of each other. Some of the Year Eleven and Twelve girls have been amazing at trying to welcome the Year Ten group into Breaksea House.

Last week saw many boarders perform in Café Jamm on the Wednesday and then Barbecue Beats on the Thursday. It was fantastic to see so many girls support their friends and housemates in either, if not both, events.

This term has had its struggles, from academic firsts to personal heartaches. We have made it through as a caring and supportive house and are now all due a well-deserved break and time to spend with families.

Year Twelve students: this is your last Term Three ever, so make the most of your last weeks, with time at school for both friendships and study. Having gone through Year Twelve with my boys last year, time flies and the real world awaits you. Make the most of the opportunities the school still has to offer you.

Lastly, enjoy the mid-year break and I will see you all back in Term Three.
