Year 5/6—Celebrating Writing

WRITING TASKS

The Little Long Walk Reflection -By Gemma

I went to the Little Long Walk over at the Advancement League and this what thought of it.

What happened:

We all walked into a massive hall . With loud music playing.  We had to wait one hour before the speeches started but it felt like two. The speeches were really long, but I didn't mind them they were sort of interesting. After that, they told us which activity we were doing. We did songwriting and it was really fun and at the end of the day we performed it. Finally we did the Little Long Walk on the oval. It was good but I wish we went somewhere better to walk.

What I liked about it:

I liked doing the song writing activity because we all got to be part of it and say what we thought about it. I also liked the Little Long Walk - it was good.

What I didn't like:

I didn’t like how long the speeches were because we had to just sit there. I think if they made the speeches shorter they could fit more activities in. I also didn’t like that we walked around the oval for the Little Long Walk. I think it would of been better if we walked around the block or down the street a bit.

THE ANCIENT GREEK HOME

Emma (5/6S 2019) chose to create an information report and artistic representation of an ancient Greek home. She presented it as an auction by which she engaged her audience greatly.

Introduction

Hello and welcome to the auction of this very sturdy and comfortable 2-storey family home. This 4-bedroom house is built of stone, wood and clay bricks. It is ideal for all seasons: it keeps you nice and cool in summer and cosy and warm in winter. The roof is made of clay tiles and the windows are small and have no glass, but fantastic wood shutters to keep the scorching sun out. It is designed to align with the social practises of our time.

The Courtyard

What immediately catches you eye is the lavish green courtyard - the centre of family life. It is a wonderfully private place for sitting in the shade and enjoying the fresh air. An ideal sport for women and their daughters to sew, cook and gossip. It is also a brilliant place for having meals and telling stories and fables. Additionally, you can call a well your own!
