Arts Festival 2019 - Under the Big Top!

We are so proud of all of our TIME musicians!  This year we tried something completely different to allow our students the opportunity to compose and collaborate with other musicians at TPS, for every student at TPS to be able to take part in a performance and the results were amazing! The educational opportunities provided to our students through this process were phenomenal.

A huge thank you to the TIME Teachers Eddie, Finley, Emma T, Max, Maria, Caitlin, Phil, Rosemary, Matt, Liam, Kate, Melissa, Jack, Juliette and Simon.

Thank you to our parents for helping us have all of our performers at all stages ready to go on the day.

Our classroom program has gone from strength to strength with Eddie who shone as our Ringmaster on the day.

The TPS Teacher band was a hit as always and thank you to Tali for writing our TPS version of Note Book writing!  (The lyrics are below)

A massive congratulations goes to our DEADLY TPS student musicians for loving the learning, the experiences and the performance opportunities!

Thank you for your support of the TIME program at TPS - a program we should all be incredibly proud of!

everybody was "NOTEBOOK WRITING"

Oh-hoh-hoh-aahh

Oh-hoh-hoh-aahh x2

Chorus

Everybody was notebook writing

Those kids were fast as lightening

Gotta say it’s pretty exciting

Reading their notebook writing

With a pencil or a pen

In funky Thornbury town

We’ve been thinking things up

And writing them down

Learn the skills behind the art

Everybody knows the parts

To persuade or entertain

Let us tell you once again

Chorus

When you think of an idea

You write it in a book

Keep it all in here

So you can take a second look

You can edit or revise

Then publish when you’re done

We can see it in your eyes

You’re finding writing fun!

Chorus

Oh-hoh-hoh-oohh          OO!     AH!

Oh-hoh-hoh-oohh          OO!     AH! x2

Zannie 1/2A:

At the Arts Festival i had my face painted and ate a cake. It was my aunties birthday on the same day as the Arts Festival which made it even more fun. Me and my mum were happy.

Angelina 1/2A:

My favourite part of the Arts Festival was when we performed on stage, my character was Tweety Bird.

The Arts Festival this year was the best one yet, the circus theme made it even more like a festival.

The Arts Festival was really good and the best one yet.

Luca 5/6C:

That was the biggest, the best and the music was great, it really showed the commitment of the students.

Gypsy 5/6S:

It was fun to show off our circus skillz and use the stilts, I also enjoyed hanging with friends.

Telisa 5/6S:

The Arts Festival was amazing and I really liked how it was set up so there was music written by students to go with the performances.

Annika 3/4A:

At the Arts Festival the prep and one/two performances were really funny and cute. I think that effort was put into making everyone feel like a star performer, I particularly liked the superstar heros of 3/4C. I also really enjoyed watching the stilt walkers.

TPS String Orchestras

Collingwood College and Wilunga Waldorf School

The Class 6 Orchestra were invited to attend Collingwood College for a day, where they joined up with the Collingwood College Senior Orchestra, a Year 10 music class, and Willunga Waldorf School Orchestra who had travelled all the way from Adelaide!!

Together students and teachers all squished into a rehearsal space and workshopped 3 songs together. They then performed them in the afternoon in the Collingwood College Theatre.

It was an incredible experience for all going musicians to be part of such an enormous orchestra- something new for all of them!

They all worked extremely well together and the resulting concert was not only uplifting but was of an exceptional standard!

Congratulations to all TPS students involved!!

MSO meets Brian Cox

Class 3/4S and Class 5/6S were lucky enough to see Professor Brian Cox on stage last Friday with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. What a great way to combine music and science and our students were taken on a journey through the galaxies whilst the mysteries of the universe became awe inspiring through the incredible music played by the MSO.

Thanks to all the wonderful students who represented our school so well on the day!
