A message from Leon

Arts Festival…. What can I say?!   It was such a joy to see every child showcase their work in the Arts to our community.   The performances and exhibitions were a showcase of our Deadly Values (Perseverance, Working Together, Respect, Trust, Integrity) and I am proud of everyone who played a part to bring the Arts Festival together.

I would like to thank the Arts Festival Team who worked extra hours organising events, signs and supplies.

I would like to thank our music/instrumental staff (Led by Emma, Eddie and Finley) and Antionette for all their work over this year and coordinating everyone before and on the day.

I would like to thank all the staff at TPS for the extra hours and support they gave.  We are very blessed to have a staff that supports the Arts so strongly.

Last but not least, I would like to thank the students.  You were awesome in performance and your Artwork was fantastic.  I am proud of you all.

Getting ready for 2020

We are very busy organising teachers and classes for 2020.  2020 is a big year for us as we grow.  We will likely have 400 students at some point in 2020 and many of our classes are getting larger which means tighter zoning has commenced.  We have no physical classroom spaces left for 2020. If you know of anyone moving to the area who is interested in coming to Thornbury PS.  Please have them organise a time to meet with me.

If you are leaving us in 2020, please confirm this with the office as soon as possible as this may impact some classes.

After School Care is also filling fast for 2020.  We are licenced for 90 places and we currently average 80 students per day.  I would encourage families to start planning with Andi and Tyne before the end of the year.  Priority will be given to families who are up to date with fees.

Car Parking and Traffic

We are slowly making progress regarding the parking and traffic situation.  I will soon be meeting with Kat Theophanous (State Member for Northcote) to look at active options for our school.  I will keep the community updated.

In the meantime, the City of Darebin will issue fines for families who do not park in the correct areas.

It is great to have John our new crossing supervisor in Murray St.
