Assistant Principal's Report

PLANNING for FLEXIBLE and REMOTE TEACHING AND LEARNING

One thing I love about my job is that every day is different. This has certainly been the case as we navigate through these unprecedented times as we respond to COVID19. I wish our students, staff and their families good health during the extended Easter break.

If and when we return from the break for term 2, teaching and learning may look very different. On Wednesday 25th March, the Department of Education (DET) released a document called ‘PLANNING for FLEXIBLE and REMOTE TEACHING AND LEARNING’. Using this guiding document, staff at Maffra SC have been preparing for this likely way of teaching and learning. Staff have been preparing weekly plans for flexible and remote learning that students will engage with at home (if we are not back at school). The key stage of these weekly plans are:

  1. Students learning new knowledge and skills,
  2. Resources being provided to support this new learning,
  3. Tasks being completed to practice these new skills,
  4. A learning task is completed and submitted via Compass so the teacher can provide feedback that continues the learning cycle.

For families that would like to preview some teaching and learning resources, DET have a bank of resources on their FUSE website for all subject areas https://fuse.education.vic.gov.au/

Stay safe.

I look forward to seeing you in term 2.
