St Bernard's Day - Friday 23rd August
On Friday we will celebrate our Feast Day with a day of learning and fun. We will spend some time learning about St Bernard, so please ask your children to tell you what they know. All students must return the permission form to be able to participate in the fun activities. Students are unable to be on the jumping castle if they do not have permission. It is a casual clothes day, however given the activities, all students should be suitably dressed. There will be a Liturgy at 9.15am in the hall - everyone is welcome. Lunch will be provided by the BPC and there will be cupcakes in the afternoon to finish off the celebration. Students with any allergies are reminded to provide a cupcake. We are all very excited about the day!
Assembly
Our next Assembly is this Friday 23rd August at 3.00pm in the hall. Everyone is welcome, however a special invitation goes out to 3/4 families, as the 3/4 level are hosting the assembly on this day.
First Eucharist
On Sunday 25th August our Year 3/4 students will celebrate their First Eucharist. This is a very special time in their faith lives and we ask that you keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers at this special time.
Father's Day Celebrations
Father's Day Celebration
Next Friday 30th August we have our annual Father’s Day morning from 9.00am. In celebration of our dads, we invite all children to come dressed like their dad.
Dads and those who are like fathers to us, are invited to join us in the classrooms before having coffee and donuts in Bernie’s café. If you have not returned your slip, please let us know by Friday 23rd August for catering purposes. Don't forget to pop into the photobooth!
Father's Day Stall
Thank you to all of those who have volunteered to help out at our upcoming Father's Day Stall. Your help is much appreciated. Gifts will range from $1.00-$10.00, so please remind children to bring some coin from their piggy bank.
School Improvement
As part of our ongoing focus on school improvement, each year we participate in a survey process that provides us with feedback from parents, teachers and students from Year 4-6. This year we will be using the Catholic Education Melbourne School Improvement Survey (CEMSIS) and randomly selected parents will receive information to complete the survey on line. In the past there has been a paper based option which is no longer available as the CEM are partnering with a different company to distribute the information and collate the data. This is a valuable source of feedback and data for us as we endeavour to ensure the best possible learning for every student. Information will be sent out next week.
'Something to think about'
Household chores for children is a topic that comes up again and again. This week we have attached an article that highlights the benefits for the whole family.
Yours Sincerely
Joanne Doherty
