Year 8 Surf Camp

From Wednesday December 6th to Friday December 8th the Year 8 camp was held at the YMCA Recreational Camp at Anglesea. We stayed in the Jarosite Block accommodation which had bunk bed style accommodation, our own bathrooms and central heating. The camp grounds offered loads to do including beach volleyball, basketball courts and bush trails, to keep the students busy when they had free time. Meals at the camp were fantastic with all students being able to have seconds and even thirds at dinner time.

Students enthusiastically engaged in the activities offered at this camp. They participated in mountain bike riding around the hill of Anglesea & enjoyed two surf sessions that were professionally delivered by Sea Earth Adventures and their wonderful staff. There was lots of laughter whilst kayaking on the Anglesea river. Students also took part in team building activities which saw them solve problems and work together to build a raft which supported their group.

The last day, always a highlight, was spent at Adventure Park in Bellbrae near Geelong. Everyone had fun going on the multitude of rides available many, many times. We all came home from camp a bit weary after all the activity but also grateful for the experiences this camp offered. It was wonderful to see many of our students push past their comfort zones and achieve results that they did not think possible.
