Warmed up Maggots Performed a Revolting Show

"Never do anything by halves if you want to get away with it. Be outrageous. Go the whole hog. Make sure everything you do is so completely crazy it's unbelievable...”

― Roald Dahl, Matilda

From little things, big things grow: ‘A storm can begin, with the flap of a wing….. Every day starts with the tick of a clock” We have been on a crazy, outrageous journey and definitely gone the whole hog. The magical story of Matilda reminds us that, “if you're stuck in your story and want to get out, you don't have to cry, you don't have to shout”, but we do have a responsibility to own our story and make the changes that need to happen. The story of Matilda, in particular, stimulates the imagination and inspires possibilities.  The students who have brought the story to life on stage have genuinely enjoyed relating to Matilda and to the prospect that anything is possible.  Head of Drama and Production Director, Mandy Ellison, said that she could not have asked more of the people involved in this show and is proud of every student and colleague, on and off the stage. Audiences were amazed by the exceptional performances  from the dedicated cast, the sharp choreography of Miss Kaddi Kearin, the genius of Tim Minchin’s irreverent lyrics and emotive musical score and of course, the professionalism and extraordinary talents of Mr Vine and the Girton Musicians and the technical wizardry of the set design, lighting design and technical production team. The many hours and months of rehearsals and preparation culminated in five stunning, sold-out performances at The Capital theatre at the end of Term Two. Congratulations to everyone involved in this year’s Senior School Production of Matilda the Musical!
