Junior School Report

Hello and welcome to the final term of the 2019 school year.

It has been great to spring has most definitely arrived, along with a touch of summer (and a dash of winter thrown in for good measure) the last few days.

Thank you to those parents who took the time to attend meetings with teachers at the end of last term. I hope you found the process informative and of assistance to you in supporting your child with their learning.

As we head into these final weeks, assessment and reporting are in focus. Term 4 is a time for consolidating the years learning and students should be focusing on demonstrating the skills and knowledge they have been developing during the year. As such, it is extremely important that students remain as determined, motivated and hard working as ever and do not ease off in their efforts pre-emptively. Term 4, Cycle 1 GPA results will be released next week and it is my challenge to every student in the Junior School to see if in the last 5 weeks of term they can commit to improving their GPA score – even in just one subject. As discussed in Year 7 and Year 8 level assemblies, the goal is always just to be better than you were yesterday and small incremental gains add up to great personal achievements. Our ACE Award winners in the last fortnight have shown that they are committed to this endeavor – congratulations to Cohen Shiels (Year 7) and Jaymee-Lee Barnes (Year 8).

At the Year 7 assembly this week, we celebrated the successes of many students in their NAPLAN results this year. The following students received either Perseverance Awards for high growth or Excellence Awards for being in the top 2 bands in at least one (but in many instances more than one!) of the areas of Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation or Numeracy.
