A Word from Tanya

Dear Families,
We are really in the midst of chilly winter winds and wet weather!
We always monitor areas of the school ground during high winds and close off areas, either heavily treed or too wet to play. Of course of it is very cold and wet the children stay inside.
As always our children are involved in many events right from the start. There is a lot of sporting events in the next couple of weeks, please complete all forms to make Kylie’s job easier- it is really time consuming for her to have to follow up this responsibility of families.
Our New Website- menziesps.vic.edu.au
Our new website is up and live! In great need of an update we are excited with this beginning! It is amazing having professional photos and we thank Laura Lane for her absolute talent in doing this.
We will be adding an A-Z tab as a ready source of information for all families plus loads more!
Thank you to Rowan and Kate for their hard work and research into the best way forward.
Please take the time to have a look!
Community Consultation - Important Diary Date Monday August 26th- 6.30 to 7.30 pm.
This term we commence preparations for our whole of school review. One important aspect is a community consultation meeting where your valuable feedback is recorded. This really helps to guide what we have done well, what needs improving and ideas you may have to bring to guide our progress over the next four years.
In reading over our last four years we have accomplished most of the items families wished for:
- Continuous reporting
- Seeing children’s goals
- Continuing to grow our buddies program
- Building both the three and four year old preschool sessions (at our last review both three and four year old joined in the one session)
- Improve signage around school
- More online communication to save paper and be sustainable
- Continue to build three way interviews as we like the children involved
- Increase the voice of students in their learning
- Built our literacy support program.
Please set aside the Monday August 26th, 6.30 to 7.30 to have your say! Baby sitting will be provided and it will be run by School Council with no staff present.
Junior Production- Circus Galacticus
Auditions have been held and practices have commenced. What a wonderful adventure all of our F-2 children will experience as they develop confidence, skills and most of all the fun of performing!
Thursday September 12th is the date to be entertained!
2019 Parent Opinion Survey
WE WANT OUR PARENTS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!
The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst a sample of randomly selected parents. It is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of parents’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.
Approximately 30 per cent of parents will be invited to participate in this year’s survey. All responses to the survey are anonymous. This year the Parent Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 29th July to Sunday 11th August.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 10-15 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
The survey results will be reported back to the school at the end of September and the survey results will be communicated to parents through the School’s Annual Report.
Please keep an eye out for a letter with your unique login and password if you are one of those families who have been randomly selected and please find the time to complete the survey so we know how we are doing as a school.
Principal Colleague
Next week we have Lisa joining our team to work with me as a mentor for two weeks. Lisa comes from Yarra Junction P.S. She will join in all the daily delights of the role and we will be able to share our learnings together.
Lisa will return again in Term 4 for two weeks and also join us for our Review so she gains knowledge of this process.
Important Reminder
Each day there is a range of cars parked in the Disability Car Park that should not be there. These are allocated and important positions for families. It is vital for both Jordan and Beau, along with others, to be able to use this for their access to school.
If this continues I will be forced to get the By Laws officers and police to monitor this.
There are two allocated spaces so PLEASE do not use them.
Assembly
This Friday we have FK and 1/2D. Next week we will hold the FC presentation that was postponed last week.
All families are welcome.
Take care
Tanya
