Tech Term 2 Report

Hi Everyone! Welcome back to Term 2!

In Technology this term, our kids are enhancing their digital tech based skills, as well as their design and creativity. 

Check out what we are focusing on...

In Prep, students are beginning to learn about 'algorithms' - an algorithm is a set of instructions. Students have been exploring algorithms that we follow in everyday life and algorithms that we can create to instruct certain things; we are working to move a robot from one place to another! We love learning with the BeeBots!

In Grades 1+2, we are focusing on Food Technology, whilst connecting to the students classroom Inquiry topic of 'change' - students are learning about healthy and unhealthy foods, where foods and materials come from and how they grow. We are utilising the school veggie gardens to help us! We hope that our seeds grow! We must look after them!!

In Grades 3+4 students have become engineers! We are focusing on The Engineering Design Process, where students are planning, designing and building prototypes for their chosen design. Feedback is also an integral part of this process, where students will be given the opportunity to give and receive feedback to make potential design changes and improvements. We are blown away by the creativity we've already seen! We will be using the online platforms Tinkercad and CoSpaces to create our prototypes! We can't wait to see what is produced!

In Grades 5+6 students are revising their learning of 'input' and 'output' peripheral devices. These are devices that send and receive information; keyboard, camera, screen etc. To extend this learning, students are focusing on how a robotic device works. We are using Lego EV3 devices, as well as a new robot, Lego Spike Prime! Students will code these robots, to make them move, dance and repeat instructions!
