Principal Report

Oatlands from My Point of View

Matthew Kenny – Assistant Principal

Just over a week back at school this term and we are well and truly back into the swing of things.

ANZAC Day Ceremony

On Friday the 29th of April, we held our ANZAC Day ceremony. Our ceremonies are one of our longest standing traditions and while we were restricted to a pre-recorded event, it was wonderful to be able to continue this important tradition. All students were able to view the recording from their classroom and participate in the flower laying part of the ceremony too. A huge thank you and congratulations to Ms Fiona Jamieson for her organisation and performance. Also, a very special thank you must go to our Student Leaders, Tahlia, Cristian, Sabareshan, Zoe, Aadhira and Thenuje, for their outstanding conduct and performance during the ceremony.

Cross Country

On Wednesday, our District Cross Country team represented our school at the District event. All students performed admirably and gave their best effort. I would like to congratulate all students for their performance and the way in which they conducted themselves on the day. Thank you to the P.E Team, Mrs Geraldine Gamble, Mrs Sarah James and Mrs Kara Ellis for organising the event and preparing the team through numerous training sessions.

Mother’s Day

On Thursday, we had our Mother’s Day stall. All students had the opportunity to purchase a gift for their mum or someone who is very special to them. This is a terrific fundraiser for the school and a huge thank you must go to Ms Jess Ward and the PFA for organising the stall. In addition to the stall, all grades are taking time to make and cook things to give to their mums on Mother’s Day, which has been really lovely to see. Wishing all the Oatlands mums a happy Mother’s Day.

Looking forward, I get a strong sense that Term 2 is going to be a very successful term of learning for everyone and I wish everyone all the best for the next part of this year.
