Swimming Carnival Reminder

The Mater Dei Catholic College Twilight Swimming Carnival will be held tomorrow, Thursday 5 February 2015 from 3:30pm to 9:00pm at the OASIS. Below is an outline of the procedure for the afternoon/evening.
All students are to attend school as normal on Thursday. At approximately 2:30pm, ALL students will board buses to the Oasis.
Students are not required to pay for travel or entry into the Oasis. The College will cover these expenses.
Please do not collect your child/ren from school as the carnival is part of the compulsory whole School Program and all students are to attend. The carnival is due to conclude at 9:00pm and we ask that you please be on time to pick up your child/ren. Parents are asked not to collect their children before they are dismissed as this is an important event in the life of the College.
It is not acceptable to be away. If students have work or have training commitments, there are 2 options:
1. Organise leave from work/training as school is the No.1 priority, or
2. Go to work/training after handing a note to your House Leader, return to carnival afterwards and sign back in with your House Leader.
If there are unavoidable circumstances which require a student to leave with their parents, a note needs to be received prior to the carnival by the student's House Leader, outlining the reason and time they will be collected.
Students are to wear normal sports uniform on Thursday and change into House colour clothing when leaving for the pool. Students are to come prepared for the carnival with their swimmers, towel, sunscreen, hats and extra food and drink.
Championship races will be held for the following events;
200m IM, 200m Freestyle, lOOm Freestyle, 5Om Backstroke, 5Om Breaststroke, and 5Om Butterfly. 5Om Breaststroke and 5Om Freestyle will include multiple division races (dependent upon numbers). Diving will be held prior to the carnival at approximately 1:00pm. All students will have the opportunity to participate in a 25m freestyle race, House Chant and a novelty events will be held throughout the night.
Parents are most welcome!! Parents can purchase an carnival spectator pass ($2.50) for the carnival, which allows for you to leave and return during the afternoon/evening. Alternatively,parents can purchase a spectator entry pass ($1.50) which will only allow single entry. Oasis rules mean if you choose to leave, you will be required to pay again.
