Pastoral Care

Welcome to 2015

It has been a great start to Term 1 with our ‘new’ Year 7 cohort joining our returning students. Year 7 have begun to settle in to life at ‘High School,’ receiving their new laptops on Monday and it is a pleasure to see so many smiling faces at the end of each day.

I would like to remind parents and guardians about some essential aspects of student presentation and Pastoral Care needs.

Uniform:  In Week one all students were made aware of updates to the Mater Dei Uniform and Appearance Policy

This includes the Rationale behind this policy and the Responsibilities of the College, parents/carers and students in upholding these expectations. I encourage all families to have a look at this document and ensure they are aware of the amendments, some of which include:

·         Dresses and skirts are to be of the appropriate length, that is, to be no higher than the width of the wearer’s four fingers (middle knuckles) above the top of the knee.

·         Girls are permitted to wear one set of small gold or silver studs or sleepers limited to one in each earlobe.

·         Girls' hair - where long enough to be tied back, it should be tied back, using ribbons, bands or ‘scrunchies’ in Mater Dei College or House colours.

·         Boys' hair - should not extend beyond the top of the collar at the back, beyond eyebrows at the front or past the top of the ears.

·         Students are not to wear make-up as part of their daily presentation.

·         Coloured nail polishes and lipsticks are not permitted.

Immunisations: Years 7, 11 and 12 will have immunisations on Friday the 6 March (Week 6). All students have been given an envelope this week that needs to be returned to the College office by this Thursday with the students name clearly printed on the front. Please see more information attached.

Pastoral Care: Mater Dei Catholic College has a brilliant Pastoral Care team who pride themselves on providing a supporting and nurturing environment. We encourage parents who believe there is an area of concern with their child to contact their relevant House Leader as soon as possible.
