Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge - 2022

The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open and Aitken College is excited to be participating.

The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development. It is not a competition, but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by 2 September 2022. Participation in the Challenge is voluntary.

Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books (20 from a specified list, and 10 free choice) with their parents and teachers, whilst children from Year 3 to Year 10 are challenged to read 15 books (10 from a specified list, and 5 free choice).

All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers.

More information about the Challenge can be found on the official website at visit: https://www.vic.gov.au/premiers-reading-challenge Here you will find comprehensive information about key dates, frequently asked questions for parents and students, guidelines and the 2022 Challenge book list. Passwords for the Challenge site will be distributed by the Challenge Administrator shortly after registration.

We hope to see many families join this exciting program.

If you are interested in being part of the Challenge, please email readingchallenge@aitkencollege.edu.au with your child’s full name - as you wish for it to appear on the  certificate, and class.

Thank you and happy reading!
