Musical Camp

Over the holidays the cast and band of We Will Rock You attended Musical Camp at Lake Dewar Lodge. The students participated in singing, dancing, acting, playing musical instruments and refining scenes, and they developed bonds with one other that planted seeds for great friendships to blossom.  The students undertook specialised workshops in choreography, dialect/accents, character development, vocal work and had the chance to negotiate their costumes with the designer. More than 80 students and staff attended the intensive three-day rehearsal. On the last day the cast and band performed Act One, bringing together everything they had learnt throughout Term 1. I can confidently say that we have an excellent show on our hands. Thank you to all the staff members who attended and showed their support.

VCE Play- Chasing The Whale

The VCE Unit 3 Production represents almost 50% of the Theatre Studies Assessment. Students are required to choose, plan, prepare, rehearse, build and perform a full-length play to an audience. It is a wonderful opportunity for creativity and collaboration.

This year’s production is called Chasing The Whale and was written by Matthew Ryan who was one of the writers of last year’s play, boy girl wall. Strange things are happening to workaholic Jerry Daniels. Office desks are chasing him. Self-help tapes are talking to him. Umbrellas are raining from the sky. But the world of advertising is no place for weakness, especially when a big promotion is up for grabs! Though without a product for his advertising campaign and with a therapist who has more problems than he does, Jerry is in trouble.

This quirky, surrealist comedy will be presented for three performances on May 18 and 19 at 7.30pm and May 20 at 3.30pm. It will be performed in a slightly different configuration to what we’ve seen in the past and would be most suited to audiences from 13 upwards. Tickets are on sale now at https://www.trybooking.com/BYVCW. Adults are $15 and concession $11. There is also a Family of Four ticket for $45.
