Message from Miharu Morioka

It is my joy to write this message to the parents and friends of our school community as the newly appointed Assistant Principal of Caulfield Primary School.

I would like to take this opportunity to say hello and share a little about my background.

I started working at CPS in 2012 which was the year we started our current 50/50 bilingual program.

Our school has grown in many aspects since then, such as teacher capacity, student outcomes and our approach to student wellbeing, and I am honoured to have been a part of that process.

My previous teaching roles saw me working in year levels from Foundation to Year 6, which gave me great understanding of curriculum content and personal challenges that are unique to each age group.

Apart from my teaching roles, I have worked as a Numeracy Leader and Learning Specialist which allowed me to get to know our students and teachers well.

I have always had passion for student wellbeing, and in recent years, I have become even more keen to support our student wellbeing through the implementation of the Respectful Relationships program.

I hope you feel that you know me a little bit better now and please do not hesitate to come and talk to me when you see me in the playground.

I am looking forward to working with parents, friends and members of our wider school community.

Miharu Morioka

CPS will be participating in the National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday 25th May.

We are all looking forward to this special event. We will all experience the same book at the same time to celebrate our love of reading and books.

Dear Families,

We have some exciting news for you to look forward to... Our school will be participating in Scholastic Book Club this year!

The best gift any parent can give a child is the love of books and the joy and benefits of independent reading for fun. Children who read at home, or are read to, have a head start on reading success in school.

Up to twice a term, during the school year, Book Club catalogues will be sent home with a different selection of books offered for all ages. You’ll find award-winning books and bestsellers, as well as old and new favourites. We recommend them because the books span a wide range of children’s reading levels and interests and are inexpensive (some books cost as little as $3).

It is easy to order. The Book Club LOOP platform for parents allows you to pay by credit card. Your child’s order is submitted directly to school and the books will be delivered to class. You can place your child’s order at scholastic.com.au/loop or by using the LOOP app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. We will be sure to provide you with detailed information about how to order books once we receive our first catalogues this Term.

Owning your own books is something special! We hope that you will encourage your child to order books this year. Each order helps earn free books and teaching materials for our classroom, however there is never any obligation to order. We know of no better way to encourage reading than to allow children to choose the books they want to read.

Watch this space as we get the Book Club up and running this Term, and we hope that many families will enjoy the benefits of Scholastic Book Club.
