Welcome Back!

Term 2

This will be an extremely busy term with our upcoming 50th Birthday Open Day.

Our Open Day will take place on Saturday 3 June 2023, starting at 11am and concluding at 2pm. The school officially opened on Monday June 4 1973!

Back in the day, Principals were required to keep written journals.

Following is an excerpt from the Principal’s journal.

“The school opened its doors to the children for the first time today. At a brief ceremony of welcome in the activity room, children and parents were introduced to the staff and were then addressed by the Headmaster Mr Cocks, the District Inspector Mr F Redstone, the Headmaster of Morphett Vale Old (School), Mr K Scholefield, the Headmaster of Morphett Vale Town (school), Mr L Hocking and the Infant Mistress of Morphett Vale Town, Miss M. Prior.

At the conclusion of the addresses the children were taken to their home corners and the parents were allowed to wander through the building.”

The opening enrolment was 260.

We are excited for our celebrations on June 3rd which will include:

  • An Opening Ceremony – Welcome to Country
  • Gallery Photo Trail
  • Back in Time Trail Bag collection for all children 12 or under – children will collect items and a stamp at each station and then get a free sausage
  • Birthday merchandise for sale
  • Fun Photo booth
  • Closing Ceremony with a performance by our Choir and presentation of items for the Time Capsule

We will have refreshments available including egg and bacon rolls, coffee van, sausage sizzle, sweets and drinks and of course some birthday cake!

It will be an exciting and fun day of reminiscing, we look forward to seeing you there!
