Prep Update

Upcoming learning

During the next fortnight, Prep students are undertaking learning in the following areas:

Reading	Week 8: We are looking at some 'mixed up' fairytales to wrap up our Fairytale unit. We are focusing on the features of these fairytales, as well as character traits. Week 9: We will be doing a summary and reflection of our Fairytale unit. We will continue to engage in daily Phonics lessons, focusing on the letter sounds /u/, /k/, /x/ and /w/ following the Little Learners Love Literacy sequence. We will be focusing on 2 sounds each week and working on sounding out and decoding words with learnt sounds.
Writing	Week 8 & 9- We will learn the correct letter formation of our focus letters. We will be writing about fairytales using our letter sound knowledge, trying our best to sound out words, incorporate 'heart words' to record our thinking. We will engage in some different language experience to inspire our writing and explore different vocabulary, including bubbles.
Maths	Week 8: We will be focusing on ordering numbers to 20. Week 9: This will be a revision week for our learnings this term.
Inquiry	Week 8: We are looking at change through transport and through Thomas the Tank Engine. Week 9: We will be wrapping up our unit on change and reflecting on the term.
Social and Emotional	Week 8 & 9: We will be learning about 'bullying' and what this means, as well as ways to respond. We will continue to build on our persistence and patience throughout these two weeks.

Please continue to bring in reader bags on Wednesdays for the remainder of Term 2.
-This supports teachers in updating the phonics books, hearts words and also allows for students to select a new decodable reader to take home.
PJ Day! Friday the 15th of June is a whole school PJ day! Please send along a gold coin donation for supporting children in care. Students are welcome to wear slippers, but please also pack a pair of shoes to wear outside.
Please remember to clearly label all jumpers, jackets, beanies, etc. This helps teachers find the owners easily.
