Upcoming Learning:

During the next fortnight, students will be undertaking learning in the following areas:

Subject	Learning Focus
Reading	To differentiate between point of view and perspective in a text (week 8 &9).
Writing	To plan, research, draft and publish an informative text (week 8&9).
Maths	To consolidate and reflect upon our learning from Term Two (week 8&9).
Civics & Citenship	To investigate how people with shared beliefs and values work together to achieve a common goal.
Social & Emotional Learning	To identify the skills needed to work independently.

Special Mentions

As part of the Year 5 Inquiry Unit, the Year 5 students are collecting donations for a local charity called Backpacks4VicKids. This charity supports children who have been displaced from their homes and placed in emergency accommodation by giving them a backpack full of daily essentials. The Year 5s welcome the following donations.

Prep: Children’s underwear (being collected by 5B)

Year 1: Children’s socks (being collected by 5C)

Year 2: Bars of soap (being collected by 5D)

Year 3: Toothbrushes (being collected by 5E)

Year 4: Toothpaste (being collected by 5A)

Year 5: Any of the items

Year 6: Hair supplies and accessories (may bring shampoo/conditioner, but must be travel size bottles) (being collected by 5B)

We have separated the donations into specific items for particular year levels, however if you do have an item that’s not specific to your child’s year level, we would still greatly accept it.

All donations must be brand new and in packaging where possible. We are collecting donations until Tuesday 20th of June. All donations will be greatly appreciated!

Homework

This term Grade 5 students will have Spelling and Math homework. Spelling will be tested each Thursday and Math homework will be checked on a Wednesday.
