CURRICULUM FOCUS

We are learning to describe translations, reflections and rotations of two-dimensional shapes.

VOCABULARY

Translation - The shape moves from one position to another in any direction (Slide)

Reflection - A shape gives a mirrored image (Flip)

Rotation - Moving a shape around a point (Turn)

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Have your child draw/rule up a 10x10 square grid. 

Then have them draw a RED triangle in the bottom left corner

(Height = 2 squares, Length = 2 squares). 

This will be the triangle's starting position.

1. Using a BLUE pencil translate the triangle 2 squares to the RIGHT
2. Using a GREEN pencil translate the triangle 4 squares UP
3. Using a YELLOW pencil translate the triangle 3 squares to the RIGHT
