World's Greatest Shave

By Noah Horgan (12.6) and Branson May (12.7)

On Friday, 12 May a group of 20 Year 12 students, Mr Fritz, Mr Carslaw and Mr Chan, participated in the World's Greatest Shave to raise funds for the Leukemia Foundation. Thank you to everyone who donated to this fantastic cause; we are so thankful to be a part of such a generous and kind community. This is a cause that is very close to the hearts of the Class of 2023.

In 2020, we lost a great mate, Thomas Quarmby, from cancer, and in a beautiful coincidence, the Shave happened to fall on Thomas' 17th birthday. We aimed to raise $30,000, and thanks to all involved, we managed to raise a staggering $35,000. The money we raised helps those battling blood cancer and their families with the support and information they need and funds crucial research projects to discover better ways to diagnose and treat blood cancer.

It was also wonderful to have some of the Mercedes Prefects come to the College and share our Greatest Shave experience. Returning the favour by attending their Ponytail Project in the afternoon was extraordinary. Seeing the girls raised over $27,000 and a large amount of hair that will be used to help people suffering the side effects of cancer treatment. Between the two Year 12 cohorts, we raised over $63,000. We are each incredibly proud to have contributed such a significant amount of money towards cancer research, hopefully improving the lives of many others through the Leukemia Foundation.

Ballroom Dancing - Q&A Session

The Class of 2026 was privileged to have Prefects from both Trinity and Mercedes speak to the cohort on their experiences of ballroom dancing, while answering any of their questions. Each Prefect spoke glowingly of their experience three years ago, highlighting the skills in communication and respect that was learnt and the long-lasting friendships that were made. On behalf of the Year Group, thank you to each of the Prefects for being honest, vulnerable, and generous with their time in sharing their experiences to support the Year 9’s.

Ballroom Dancing - Lessons

Our Year 9 students started their ballroom dancing lessons with Mercedes Year 9 students this week. Though a bit nervous at first, the students did well to follow the instructions and choreography from visiting Gilkison’s Dance Studio instructor, Mr Haworth. With more lessons together over the next coming weeks, we are sure they will all enjoy the journey of dance and form new friendships.

Year 9 ‘A Night to Shine’

Tickets are now on sale for the Year 9 Becoming Men special event ‘A Night to Shine’, which will be held at the end of Term Two.

This annual event is an opportunity for Year 9 students to demonstrate their appreciation and respect for a significant female in their lives.

Detailed information about the event and how to book tickets has been sent directly to all Year 9 families.

Pink Sock Day

On Saturday 10 June, Trinity College sports teams will once again be pulling on their pink socks for the McGrath Foundation for our annual ‘Pink Sock Day’ fundraiser!

This special day on the TC calendar, now in its 8th year, helps to raise much-needed funds for the McGrath Foundation to support women experiencing breast cancer in communities right across Australia.

Come support our boys at Waterford Playing Fields as they line up against Scotch College, and dress in a splash of pink to show your support. Don't forget your gold coin donation on arrival.

We also encourage our TC community to show their support by donating to our fundraiser. All money raised will go directly to the McGrath Foundation to help women experiencing breast cancer. Every donation counts.
