Premier’s reading challenge

This year OPS students are invited to participate in the Victorian Premier’s Reading Challenge! The Premier’s Reading Challenge encourages children to read a set number of books over a period of time and record their efforts online. Since the Challenge first began in 2005, more than 3 million students have read nearly 51 million books!

Notes have been sent home with all students with their login, password and details on how to participate in the challenge.

How to participate

https://vprc.eduweb.vic.gov.au/home

Click on school coordinator or student button.

Choose VPRC login and then enter username and numerical password that was sent home with your child.

On your dashboard it will tell you how many books you need to read to complete the challenge, along with how many of those books have to be challenge books and how many can be books of your own choice. The number of books you are required to read depends on the year level you are in.

You can add books by clicking ‘Search Book’ from the menu. To search for challenge books, you can select this option from the dropdown box.

A full list of books and the age level they are suited to can be found here:

https://www.vic.gov.au/premiers-reading-challenge-book-lists

When you have finished reading a book, select the book’s Finish button from your reading list on the dashboard. A book review screen will open and you can:

  • Give the book a star rating – 5 stars is the highest rating, 1 star is the lowest rating.
  • Write a book review – up to a maximum of 500 characters.
  • Mark the book as a favourite – you can add more than one book as a favourite.

Complete any details you want to add and select Finish book.

The Challenge coordinator (Ms. P) will verify finished books. This process can take time. If you submit a book review, it will be sent to Ms. P for approval. Reviews are not published until they have been reviewed. Published reviews will only show your school name and year level.

The challenge ends on the 8th of September

Please contact me via the school if you have any questions.

Happy Reading!
