Kinder - Saplings

Kindergarten students this week have began creating special gifts for Mothers' Day. We can’t tell you what those gifts are (as it’s a surprise), but we can tell you that in order to make the gifts, we had to follow a recipe and learn to follow a specific sequence.  Steps needed to be followed in order to achieve the results we wanted. We also had to use fine motor skills to mix, cut, draw and write our special gifts.

Here arey some pictures of us creating: can you guess what we made?

Prep Bluegum

In Prep Bluegum, we have been busy learning about new letters and the sounds that we say when we see them in words. The most recent letters we have learnt are ‘d’, ‘c’ and ‘h’. We have learnt the difference between ‘loud’ sounds when our voice is turned ‘on’ and ‘quiet’ sounds when our voice is ‘off’. We have been focusing on using correct letter formation when writing letters in words. Check out some of our amazing writing!

Grade 1 Leatherwood

On Thursday 4 May, Grade 1 ventured out to Bonorong Park to observe firsthand many of our native Australian animals that we have been learning about in our Biological Science unit of learning.  We were lucky to see up close Stella the gorgeous wombat and Kelly the beautiful Tasmanian Devil. Sonia, our guide, told us many interesting facts about each animal.  After our tour with Sonia we were super duper lucky to feed and pat some amazing wallabies - one was even taller than Ronan and Nathan!

After visiting Bonorong Park we stopped off at Symmons Park in Lindisfarne for lunch and a play.  The most exciting equipment at the park was definitely the giant slide and rope structure.  It was fantastic to see so many children overcome their initial fears and finally conquer the climb up to the slide - well done everyone who gave it a go.
