Weekly Fixtures 

Mr Matt Stearn - Senior Sports Master

Senior Swimming

On 1 to 2 May six students represented the ISA at the CIS Swimming Championships held at SOPAC. We had fantastic results throughout the two days.

 

The 4 x 50m Medley Relay (Nicholas Gladen, Evan Ausling, Aaron Lau, Cavan Ryan) came 11th.

 

Gavin Bae (Year 7) placed 13th in the 50m Freestyle, 12th in the 50m Fly and 14th in the 50m Breaststroke.

 

Luca McCarthy (Year 8) placed 6th in the 50m Breaststroke, 12th in the 50m Freestyle and 13th in the 100m Freestyle.

 

Nicholas Gladen (Year 11) achieved 1st in the 100m Backstroke, 1st in the 50m Breaststroke, 3rd in the 50m Freestyle, 3rd in the 50m Breaststroke and 4th in the 50m Butterfly. These results have secured a spot for Nicholas on the CIS team which will compete at the All Schools Championships.

 

Congratulations to all 6 students on their fine performance representing the ISA.

Senior Football

Results 20 May

A big thank you to all the parent volunteers who offered their time and helped out on the BBQ and uniform store on Saturday, the money raised by these activities goes directly into Football coaching for your sons so please continue to support this.  There were some outstanding results on the weekend highlighted by a dominant performance by the 15B’s winning 5-0 with a great hattrick to Louis Forbes. This weekend most fixtures are away at Oakhill College.

COERVER Football camp is on again during the holidays, from 26 – 28 June. We encourage footballers to take this opportunity to participate in this intensive football training during the school holidays. A bendy bus has been booked to assist with travel needs. We urge anyone wishing to book a place on the bus, to book and secure their place promptly. Thank you to all our wonderful SPX Football Supporters who volunteered their time or bought some merchandise, a coffee and a sausage sandwich on Saturday. You all helped make BBQ Day a great success and raised significant funds for the future SPX Football Programs. We also enjoyed the opportunity to thank our SPX Coaches for their efforts coaching our boys and following the new SPX Coerver Coaching Program.

ISA Tennis

Last weekend our divisions played wonderful games across the board. Congratulations to Divisions 7, 8 & 10 who emerged as the victors of their round, demonstrating their teamwork and unwavering spirit on the tennis court.

Looking ahead to Round 5, we extend our best wishes to all divisions as we oppose St Andrew’s College and St Spyridon. 

There has been a change in location for Division 8 who will now be playing at our home courts. Please see the rest of the details below:

CSDA Debating 

The CSDA Debating competition continues this week AT HOME against Domremy College.    A reminder that all debating students are required to meet at the clock after Sports Assembly each Friday.

Our draw for the remaining weeks is as follows:

Round 5:  SPX vs Domremy

Round 6:  SPX vs Normanhurst Boys

 

The breakdown of the night looks like this:

  • Training: 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm
  • Break/Dinner: 4:30 pm - 4:45 pm
  • Other team arrives at 4:45 pm
  • Coin Toss: 5:00 pm
  • Debates begin: 6:00 pm
  • Debates should all be done by: 7:30 pm

Cross Country Training

Cross Country training will be cancelled this Thursday and will resume next week Monday. All students wanting to prepare for the Athletics season next term are encouraged to join, especially those interested in track events. 

 

When: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings

Where: Beauchamp Park, Chatswood 

Time: 7:15 am – 8:15 am 

Who: All Senior and Junior School students welcome

Interschool Snowsports Competition

The 2023 Interschool Snowsports competition will be held at Perisher Ski Resort from Tuesday 4 July to Friday 7 July.

The college has approved for students to enter this competition representing St Pius X College.  All participants enter this competition at their own cost and parents are required to sign a liability waiver form.

Parents will also be required to attend the event and meet volunteering requirements of the competition.  Further details of the competition are in the attached document.
