Cocurricular Program

All research on protective factors for wellbeing and 'success criterior' underline the importance of connecting to values, family and community. It is no secret therefore that students at St Pius X who engage wholeheartedly in the cocurricular program alongside their studies are corellationally highly represented among our highest achieving alumni. Included in this category are students from our most recent cohorts as well as examples from our earlier years such as Dr James Biggs AO (Class of 48) our first leaving certificate (HSC) College Captain, 1st XV and 1st XI Captains, as well as Bill James who played CBOBs Old Boys Rugby before  heading to Europe to found Top Deck Travel and returning to found The Flight Centre and become Chair of the Kokoda Track Foundation.

Our 16A and 16B Football face off in ISA Competition with their coaches Mr Quilty and Mr Barnes.

SPX Rugby vs Barker

Our Opens Rugby in particular experienced pleasing results against Barker following EREA Nudgee College close win over Barker 1st XV, with stand-in Captain Luke Haldane (Year 11) and Callum Mahura presented with awards for their performances: (photos below)

Our connections to Barker College run deep with Year 12 student Tom Haymen watching the fixture with his Grandfather and SPX Old Boy Tony Lenehan and Uncles Anthony (1987) and James (1989 and father of Kalani Class of 2020)! Anthony’s son Will ran on for Barker 2nds!

The Lenehan family are one of the longer standing families represented in Year 12 2023 at the College, perhaps rivalled only by the family of Anton Langreiter whose Great Uncle Anthony Gillespie served as an RAAF Mosquito pilot who sadly lost his life over Germany in WWII.

Lest we forget.

House Vice Captains

Congratulations to the following students in Years 7 and 8 who were appointed as House Vice Captains at last Friday's Sports Assembly.  They will now join their Year 12 House Captains in forming a student representative council to give voice to their cohorts.

Youth Liaison Officer

Recently our Year 11 students met up with Youth Liaison Officer, Snr Constable Lynda Hart to discuss and learn about real life perspectives on contemporary issues for our young men.
