Book Fair

Thank you to the many students and parents who came along, had a browse and purchased our book fair products this year.  With your support we sold $1068 worth of books and stationary items! A fantastic result that has allowed us to add a large number of books to our school library using the rewards points we obtained. Each student was able to choose a book that they wanted for our library.

Sydney Excursion to Go Ahead!

Thank you for the overwhelming response for our Sydney excursion for students in Upper Division.  We will be going ahead with the excursion planned from Tuesday 14th to Friday 17th November.  We will begin reserving more places at venues and events in the coming weeks.  Please use the below suggested time table for regular payments.  Once we have confirmed all of our places in Sydney, we will announce a final cost and itinerary.  We are looking forward to organising an amazing experience for our students!

Home Time at School

I have reminded students of the need to be very careful and settled at home time, when waiting to be collected, getting on the bus or getting into cars.  We are asking students to stay behind the gate/fence until all cars have stopped and then walk to get into their car.  We are asking students not to run around outside the fence to ensure the wellbeing and safety of everyone.  I am hoping parents will support us in making sure the area is safe for everyone each day.

Athletics Carnival

Just a reminder that our athletics carnival will be held this Friday at the Uralla Sporting Complex. All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 will be participating in this carnival.  There are about 17 students from Woolbrook, Yarrowitch and Niangala schools joining us for the day however they won’t directly compete against our students

This carnival allows Rocky River students to participate in events with other small schools and is part of the selection process for the Armidale District Athletics Carnival for those students who are turning 8 or above in 2023.

The District Athletics Carnival is set to be held on 28th July 2023.

IMPORTANT: Students who normally travel to and from school by bus will still catch the bus as normal but will be dropped off and picked up at the Uralla Sporting Complex. All other students must be dropped off and picked up at the sporting complex and not at school as there won’t be any staff on duty at school.

Rocky River P&C will be operating a canteen on the day, please see the attached price list and our plan of events for the day.

The carnival will commence at 9am and finish at approximately 2.45pm. Parents are encouraged to attend and if possible, assist with time keeping or other small jobs.

Students are required to wear school sports uniform and bring a hat, sunscreen and water bottle. There won’t be a set time for recess or lunch, students will eat between their events in order to save time and get through the program before the end of the day.

Assembly Next Friday 26 May

Our next assembly will be held next Friday 26th May here at school from 2.15pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Mr Stink Performance in Tamworth

We have secured seats to attend the theatre production of "Mr Stink" in Tamworth on Thursday 8th June.  This is for all students K-6. We will be travelling by bus to Tamworth for the day.  The school is funding the majority of the costs for every student to attend however, we are asking for a contribution of $15 per student towards the overall cost.  It is very rare for us to be able to access such a quality production in our area so we are really looking forward to providing out students with this worthwhile opportunity. A note will go home about this today or tomorrow.

An AECG in Uralla?

I am joining all school principals in the Uralla Shire at a meeting this afternoon from 1.30pm in an attempt to establish an Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG). I will provide further information after this meeting today.  Please refer to the information sent home at the end of last week, or click the link below:

RAT Kits

We still have plenty of COVID-19 Antigen self-test Kits available for our school families so please let us know if you require any.

Vale Neil Doran

We are sorry to hear the sad news of the passing of Neil "Grubby" Doran last week.  Mr Doran was the permanent bus driver for students attending Rocky River Public School for many years.  He was an avid supporter of our school and a well-known identity in the Uralla/Rocky River Community.

On behalf of the students, staff and school community, I wish to express our deepest sympathy to Mr Doran's family at this very sad time.
