Year 6 Canberra Trip

Canberra 2023

Personally I really enjoyed Canberra. I thought it was an extremely fun, exciting and informative event. I found the War Memorial very cool and fun but I also found it kind of sad because I know the soldiers and people were just like me who fought for their country. The War Memorial was amazing because I saw different super cool planes, the cockpit of one and I saw the Hercules guided bomb. Another thing I found interesting is the Lone Soldier's tomb. I found this area a very special one because of all the little stones on the walls and floor and I also felt very safe but also sorry.

Lest we forget.

I also enjoyed the Parliament House visit. I found it interesting because I saw a debate going on between two very powerful people. I also loved the ice cream we were given in hospitality at Parliament House.

Finally, I really loved my room  with Jaylan, Teddy and Phoenix.

My Canberra Journey

It was Thursday the 25th of May, I was up at 10 to 5 in excitement of going away with all my friends for a whole 24-48 hours!

I was really excited, but then I was really nervous because  I was leaving  my whole family for 2 Days.

I finally got to school, the whole grade was there. I saw my friends running towards me. At this moment I had a whole bunch of different emotions.  “Can everybody get in their class lines and be quiet.” stated Mr Taylor. We were all sitting down in our lines while Mrs Maguire was talking to us. It was time we were finally getting on the bus! As we sat down we could see all the parents waving goodbye to us on the outside of the bus.

We were off and now on the road, oh and we actually passed Miss Norris ( she was my year three teacher). I was sitting next to Gracie and I was behind Teddy and in front of Hugo.

The bus ride was really long but it was also really fun. Gracie, Hugo and I played Taco, cat, goat, cheese and pizza.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education.  To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government contributed funding of $30  per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs.  The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
