Student Representatives

Sydney Cross Country Primary Championships

Sophie A, Charli M, Francesca P, Emily B, Noah VD and Chloe W all represented Sydney Catholic Schools at the MacKillop Cross Country Selection Championships. This was held at The Sydney Equestrian Centre on our staff development day. We had some great results with Sophie A finishing in 4th and Charlie M in 7th. Sophie A will progress to the NSWPSSA Cross Country Championships in July. What a team of runners we have here at St Pat’s.

NSWPSSA Hockey

Audrey P participated in the NSWPSSA Hockey Tournament as the Captain of the MacKillop Team. The MacKillop team finished the tournament in 4th position. This was held in Tamworth where Audrey showcased her talents and managed to also secure a spot in the NSW PSSA Girls Team. Audrey will be competing once again at the School Sport Australia Hockey Championships at the end of July  in Hobart. We definitely have a talented bunch of students who have big sporting careers ahead of them. Go Audrey!

Annual School Athletics Carnival

Our 2023 Athletics carnival was a great success. Thank you to our wonderful teachers, parents, spectators, officials and students who all contributed to this fun-filled event. It was great to see lots of students entering events and giving it their best efforts.

If you were given a hard copy note to compete at the Conference 3 Athletics Trial at Barden Ridge Athletics Track, please return this note at your earliest convenience. I will be in touch to confirm what events your child has qualified for. This year students not only had to place at our school trial but they also had to meet standard qualifying times/measures which are set by Sydney Catholic Schools. Well done to everyone on making this a successful and memorable day.

With all of Year 4 heading to the Interschool Football (soccer) gala day on Tuesday 27th June we have 4 girls and 4 boys teams ready to take to the field. We hope to see parents come along to support this Sydney Catholic Schools initiative. Teams will be placed in pools to play against other schools in a safe and fun environment. There will be no progressions to finals. Teachers will go through the Sydney Catholic Schools code of conduct to ensure all students understand the behavioural expectations. Unified All Abilities Day

Sydney Catholic Schools is continuing to provide new and exciting opportunities in sport for Students with Disability through the Unified All Abilities Multi Sport Days.

The Unified All Abilities Multi Sport Days give students the opportunity to try a range of sports. During this day, individuals with and without a disability share the empowerment that comes with engaging in sport. Aimed at primary students aged 8-13 years with intellectual, social-emotional, sensory and physical disabilities, the days are an opportunity to have a go in a fun and inclusive environment. The unified program allows students to bring a buddy from their school to help them learn new skills and give them the confidence to participate and compete against other students.

These days are designed to:

  • promote social inclusion
  • provide students with a sense of connectedness
  • build a sense of self
  • encourage ‘giving it a go’
  • foster a love of the game.

The day involves:

  • learning more about AFL and Football (Soccer)
  • access to specialised coaching and adaptive equipment
  • opportunities to network with students and teachers from other schools
  • competing in games against other students.

Benefits of attending the day include:

  • building social wellbeing and friendships
  • strengthening balance, coordination and mobility skills
  • working as part of a team, collaborating and planning
  • increased self-esteem through a sense of achievement.

This day will be held on Tues 27 June (Week 10) at Majors Bay Reserve, Concord. If you are interested in your child attending this event, please email amanda.col@syd.catholic.edu.au and a paper registration form will be sent home with your child. Please fill this out and return it to school at your earliest convenience.

Paul Kelly Cup

The Paul Kelly cup was held on the 7 June and was attend by students year 5 and 6. Versatility, sportsmanship, teamwork and the love of sport shone through at the AFL Gala Day at Waratah. The students displayed excellent  behaviour and were great ambassadors for St Pat’s. All the students competed well against the competing schools.

Thank you so much to all the parents who came along and supported the teams!
