STAFF NEWS:

Some of our staff have been provided with some new opportunities for Semester 2. Grace Neilson is exploring some new opportunities and Mrs Beth Bianco will be taking up a position at St Christopher's Panania as a Diverse Learning Teacher.  Miss Alexis Bell will replace Ms Neilson in Kinder M.  Mrs Lauren Augustus will take over the Diverse Learning role from Mrs Bianco and Miss Isabelle Lewis will come in as a 4th teacher to pick up the classes from Mrs Bianco and Mrs Augustus. There are significant changes for us here at St Patrick's and recognise that the current employment opportunities for teaching staff are very different to the past. We are saddened to see them move on but understand that they need to pursue different horizons.

K-2 Phonics Update

Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 have been working hard on daily phonics lessons. The goal of phonics instruction is to help beginning readers understand how letters are linked to sounds (phonemes) to form letter-sound correspondences and to help them learn how to apply this knowledge in their reading.  We encourage you to support your child at home by ensuring they are decoding and using these sounds to work out words when reading (example:   c/a/t = cat)
