Advent Week 3 

THE CANDLE OF JOY

We light the 3rd Advent Candle as a sign of joy - a testimony to the Light of God coming into our world that will shatter the darkness and bring healing to all who suffer and mourn.

PRAYER:

Loving God, 

We thank you for the joy you bring us. 

Help us prepare our hearts for this gift. 

Bless our worship. 

Help us to hear and to do your word. 

We ask it in the name of the one born in Bethlehem, Jesus our Lord. 

Amen.

O God, you joyfully embraced humanity for our sake. With gratitude we pray: 

Come, Christ our saviour. 

May justice and peace in our world be the fruits of justice and peace in our hearts. 

Come, Christ our saviour. 

May we always have the eyes to see Christ in the unknown face. 

Come, Christ our saviour. 

May we reach out the gentle hand of Christ in situations beyond our understanding. 

Come, Christ our saviour. 

May we always choose to soothe rather than condemn. 

Come, Christ our saviour. 

May we be with and for one another, in a spirit of solidarity and love with all God’s people. 

Come, Christ our saviour. 

Closing Prayer:

O God, your will is justice for the poor and peace for the afflicted. May the news of the dawn of your coming bring healing to our hearts and may your promise of salvation fill us with joy and hope.
