SpeakUp

Sometimes students don't feel comfortable reporting incidents or seeking help from school teachers and leaders.  It's important to us that all students feel safe at school.  We want to be approachable and ready to listen to student concerns.  For those times though when students would rather not speak directly to school staff, we now have SpeakUp.

Our school uses a cybersafety and internet connection solution called Cyberhound.  SpeakUp is located in CyberHound’s LiveZone portal. Students have access to SpeakUp within LiveZone.  They can access this on their iPad or laptop.  There they can report if there is something that is making them feel scared, confused, upset, or worried.   This could be because of bullying, threats, concern about an unsafe area or piece of equipment, whatever.  They can also report if they have concerns about the safety of anyone else.

Our secondary students have been trained in using SpeakUp.  Our primary students will also be shown how to use it, though we expect our older students to be most likely to make use of it.
