A Little Bit More

This semester, Our Gardening Club has focused on the beginning of Wollert Secondary College's edible and bee friendly garden .
Our team has been busy creatively decorating the garden space and students have enjoyed getting together during our Monday Gardening Club, to upkeep the plants by digging, planting, watering, and maintaining.
Our main purpose is to learn how to use fruit and vegetable scraps to regrow and reuse. Eventually we hope to develop a sustainable garden, providing fresh produce to our Food Technology classes.
Our Gardening Club has successfully applied these techniques to the regrowth of many vegetables such as celery, potatoes, onions, carrots, parsnips, lettuce and we are experimenting with many more.
In Term 3 we will begin transferring our plants into garden beds that will be made by the Hands On Learning students at Craigieburn Secondary College, which will be funded by the community grant that our Gardening Club received thanks to the efforts of Ms. Barnes.
We will be laying down extra beds that will be installed by our friendly bee partners. We will be building bee hotels that will accommodate our very own bee community that will help in the pollination of our plants and flowers and promote healthy long term growth.
We have also been fortunate to have Bunnings Warehouse Epping assist our program by donating gardening materials.
Term 3 looks very busy with the spring months ahead.
Gardening Club is a wonderful, relaxed space where students get great enjoyment out of learning about nature, understanding the benefits of fresh sustainable produce, and a place to experiment .
