Sport Report

Ms. Wike

What an incredible semester our students have had in their sporting endeavours! We have had a number of amazing results throughout terms 1 and 2, with many students progressing through to the Northern Metropolitan Region competition.

Wollert SC Athletics Day

In term 1, we held our inaugural athletics carnival. It was an absolute success! We had 100% participation from the students that attended the day, with every student taking part in at least one event on the day. Students earned points for their house by taking part in events on the day. In the end, Tarwin house took out first place with a total of 1350 points. An incredible effort by the students in Tarwin house.

At the end of the day, we had 11 students qualify to represent Wollert SC at the Whittlesea Division athletics day.

Whittlesea Division and Northern Metropolitan Region (NMR) Cross Country

10 students took part in the Whittlesea Division cross country event on Tuesday 2nd May. All of our students put in a 110% effort in their run. Malak Gholam and Sashank Kumar were successful in making it through to the NMR event that was held on Wednesday 14th June. Both students put in stellar efforts in their NMR cross country run.

Colour Explosion Run

On Friday 10th March, students took part in the inaugural Colour Explosion Run. The run was a 3km track that doubled as our cross country team trials. Throughout the run students were covered in different coloured powder. The first 5 males and females were selected to represent Wollert SC at the Whittlesea Division cross country event.

Year 7 Volleyball

On Monday 27th Feb, 20 students represented Wollert SC at the Whittlesea Division volleyball competition. Both teams played very well and put up a good fight throughout all of their games and demonstrated great sportsmanship. Our boys managed to win one of their games by 3 points.

Whittlesea Division Athletics Day

On Friday 19th May, 11 students took part in the Whittlesea Division athletics day competition at Meadowglen International Athletics Track. The students displayed fantastic sportsmanship and competed incredibly well against the other schools. To make a great day even better, 5 students qualified for the Northern Metropolitan Region athletics competition that will be held in August. Danial Hanna was announced as the ‘12-13 age group champion’. This means that in his age group, Danial scored the most points of everyone. An incredible achievement!

Term 2 Inter-School Sport

On Wednesday 7th June, 25 year 7 students represented the College at the Whittlesea Division winter sport competition day. Our students competed in netball, soccer and badminton. All of the teams performed to the best of their ability.

Netball

The girls netball team put up a great fight, particularly in their last game of the day where some great points were scored. Despite not getting the results that they hoped for, the entire team showed sportsmanship and respect for each other and their opponents.

Badminton

Our badminton boys found immense joy and satisfaction in participating in the badminton competition, despite their losses to Gilson and Mill Park. They relished the opportunity to challenge themselves, showcasing their skills and pushing their limits. They displayed exceptional sportsmanship and good behaviour throughout the competition. Regardless of the outcome, they maintained a positive attitude towards their opponents, teammates and officials. They did the College proud. - Ms O'Hora

Soccer

Despite only having 9 players (instead of 11) on the day, our mixed soccer team put up an incredible fight all day, even managing to keep two of their opponents to 1 goal each. Everyone showed great sportsmanship and continued to give each game their all, despite the discrepancies in the number of on field players. It was fantastic to see the pure joy and excitement the entire team experienced when Milad Enaya scored the only goal for the day. Well done!
