Geography is always a hit regardless of which year level you’re in and this year has been no exception.

Year 7 students have looked at how humans and water interact, and then explored the idea of liveability. To practice their skills of geographic observation 7B took a guided walk through the school grounds and made note of both natural and man-made features they could see. At the same time they created mud maps of their journey which was a lot of fun.

Year 8 students took virtual fieldwork trips to significant locations around the world in order to look at their landscapes and landforms, and are now looking at patterns of migration (getting excited for jellybaby geography to explore the concept of population growth in week 8).

Year 9 students attended a smart farming day at Yarra Ranges Tech School and worked in teams to explore how innovations in farming can help to improve food security. They then switched to looking at interconnections and got to research the phenomenon ‘dark tourism’ which is always fascinating.

Across the junior school we’ve really enjoyed the first few weeks of Term 3 and we are all looking forward to continuing our study of History this term.
