SMILING MINDS FOCUS END OF TERM:
For the end of term, we have introduced a program called “Smiling Minds”.
This program is to encourage students self-regulation development and has been created by a panel of psychologists and educators to specifically cater to primary aged students. Last week, we began by discussing with all year levels about what our main emotions are, which ones we may struggle with the most and unpacked some of their strategies that help whether they are at school or at home.
The students have responded really well to understanding our emotions, finding ways to determine if we are feeling overwhelmed and how to stop it before we hurt ourselves or other. Moving forward self-regulation and conflict resolution strategies are life skills that are crucial to develop in the primary sector and we are thrilled to continue this program to support our student’s emotional wellbeing!
