Visual Arts

Students have been working with air dry clay. At the beginning of the term, I had asked all year levels what they would enjoy most creating in art and this material won by a landslide! The students have been enthusiastic and resilient learners when it comes to clay as it has been challenging our fine motor skills to knead and warm the clay in our hands. It has also been allowing our students to explore their creativity and imagination with the process in mind rather than the end result! We are also focusing on positive self-voice in regards to our own capabilities and so far our children have really been trying to put this into practise every visual arts lesson.

For the last few weeks, we have been focusing on joining and smoothing clay properly to ensure that when it dries all elements of their sculptures stay together. I am so incredibly proud of our OPS students for coming into every visual arts class with a positive attitude and trying their hardest with a new skill! We have had so much fun and are looking forward to what next term has in store for us.
