Congratulations to the Prep class who have been very hard workers over the past fortnight. We have also enjoyed some special events such as the Teddy Bear Picnic, where students were able to share a story about their teddy, and we enjoyed a fish and chip lunch, which we wrote beautiful thank you notes for.
In Literacy, we have started guided reading groups with the teacher so that each child has the opportunity to share their skills in reading short words and comprehending stories. We have also included technology into our work, doing our final projects for procedural writing on the iPads which we hopefully be able to print out and display!
In Numeracy, we finished learning about addition by revising the strategies we have been learning. We have now started working on recognising shapes and counting how many sides and corners each shape has. Everyone has done a great job so far in learning these new skills.
Hi everyone, it's been a short term but a very busy one! Last week we welcomed
pre-service teacher Shae Wallin into 1/2NP. Shae has been getting to know the grade and helping them with their work. she will be with us until the end of term.
Miss Boddy spent time with the 3 - 6s at camp. She had a fantastic time but was exhausted when she got home! While she was away all of the 1/2s were together which
was really fun. We had a Teddy Bear's Picnic and some hot chips for lunch. When everyone was back from camp, the whole school enjoyed a Values Day. The long weekend was very welcome as were the donuts on Donut Day! We finished this week with a free dress day to raise funds for the RSPCA which was organised by the SRC.
In Maths we have started learning about analogue time, particularly quarter past and to, half past and o'clock. This will continue into Term 3. Students have made clocks and learnt
about the relationship between time and fractions.
We have been using writing prompts to write some fantastic narrative pieces. Students are learning about paragraphs and how and when to use them. Students have been using prior knowledge, illustrations and titles to help them make predictions before reading.
They have also been critiquing books read and explaining why they liked or did not like them.
It has been a fantastic Term and we would like to take this opportunity to thank families for the support they have shown their children and us. We hope you have a relaxing break and we look forward to more fun in Term 3!
