Dear Parents and Carers,
Semester 1 Reports have been made available on the COMPASS portal. The format of the K-2 Report has changed, reflective of the new syllabus documents for English and Mathematics. The Report for children in Years 3-6 remains the same for this year. On COMPASS, you will find bookings open for Parent/Teacher Interviews to be held on Wednesday July 19. Bookings can be made on the parent portal. It is a requirement of NESA (NSW Education Standards Authority), written reports are distributed twice yearly and parent teacher interviews are offered for those who would like them, following the distribution of reports.
Last week, some staff from St Michael's attended the annual information evening hosted by Manilla Pre-School. It was great to see some familiar faces and nice to meet with prospective new families. Enrolments for all grades K-6, 2024, are now being accepted at St Michael's. Enrolment packages can be collected from the Office and information can be accessed on the school website. Information regarding Kindergarten 2024 Transition will be made available in Term 3. Don't forget our Playground every Thursday 9.15 - 10.15 during Term time.
In the past twelve months, we have been using a spelling program - Spelling Mastery. Spelling Mastery is a direct instruction program that targets the children at their level of spelling, whether it's at grade level, above grade level or below grade level. Children have recently been tested to place in the program commencing again in Semester 2 and our results are very pleasing and encouraging. 95% of our students have shown 12 or more months growth in their spelling over the past year, using the Spelling Mastery program. On the back of this result, we have made the decision to keep with the program for another year. Well done to everyone!
Congratulations to the students who made their First Reconciliation on Wednesday after school. Evie Lendon, Hannah Parris, Frank Coleman and Thea Doring attended with their families. Thankyou to Fr Curran for continuing to support our students in their faith journey.
On Wednesday, some of our students competed in the Toni Palmer Cup at Inverell. Our boys joined with students from St Joseph's Barraba and St Joseph's Glen Innes to from a small schools' team. Congratulations to Nicholas Gallagher, Riley Butcher, Thomas Taber and Nulla Gillon for representing St Michael's. Feedback from Simon Fleming who managed the team is below:
Hi Bronwyn, just thought I would pass on that I really enjoyed the day yesterday and Your kids were great. Cheers --

Term 3 will commence on Monday July 17. This day will be PUPIL FREE. Staff will be attending St Xavier's Gunnedah to join with their staff and staff from St Philomena's Moree for a Spirituality day. All staff will be attending, so there will be no one in attendance at St Michael's on July 17. Students K-6 will return to school on Tuesday July 18.
Best wishes for a safe and happy holiday period.
